We’re the only federally mandated program dedicated to championing the dignity and quality of life of the 10,000+ residents in San Mateo County’s 430+ carefacilities. We’re a trusted resouce for residents and family members – and we take that seriously. No concern too big, no voice too quiet.
What We Do
We don’t just talk — we act. Our team shows up and:
- Visits facilities regularly to stay connected
- Digs deep into concerns with care and attention
- Supports you in understanding and using your rights
- Steps in when serious issues arise — abuse, neglect, unfair discharges
- Collaborates with facilities to create positive change
What We Help With
We jump in to assist with just about any concern you might have. Examples include:
- Administrators and caregivers are slow to respond
- Lost or stolen personal items (hearing aids, glasses)
- Resident rights not being respected
- Being excluded from care planning decisions
- Lack of interesting activities
- Unsafe or poorly planned discharges and transfers
- Food quality and dietary concerns
